Hopefully, future tortoise owner. Posted: 29/04/2015 by jorge.garibay |

Hello, my name is Jorge and I'm looking forward to buying a tortoise in a near future, but before actually adopting it, I want to make sure I'm 100% prepared for its maintenance and caring. First of all, I must state that I live in Mexico City, I have a big (safe) backyard, I don't mind the size of the tortoise (although I would like a moderate or big one) I'm almost certain that I have the sufficient funds for it and I can definitely commit to the tortoise. But before I make any choice, I need answers to some questions: I've read that I shouldn't get it from a store, but I don't know where else I can find one in Mexico. What should I do? How much would it cost me for the tortoise and the artifacts required for his home? Which type of tortoise do you recommed for me? In what should I keep him? (I know I need a UV lamp and a heater) What do they eat and how many times a day? And, is it safe to let him unto the garden every now and then? I'm really excited about getting this tortoise and I want to make sure I'm totally qualified to take care of it. | |
