Hi I promised I would go away and find out why our torts have a snapping like motion when feeding, as this causes concerns that they might be blind. Just to also point out that in some cases depending on the circumstances this may not be the case, so further investigation would be needed. Anyway to get back to the beginning. Tortoises are inertial feeders, which means once the mechanics of movement in the beak starts, eg opening the beak to eat, it continues the motion , as decsribed to me "assisting gravity".
