Hi there Carl, what a great idea. We think alike! The problem with dandelions is that they so readily set seed. I will collect almost open. and open flower buds, and sun dry them. I am certainly going to try this myself, a trial and error process. One thing I did do last year was feed wilted dandelion leaves to reduce water content, and increase dry chopped grass content. The first thing I noticed was drier, more fibrous faeces, passed easily, and easier to remove. Torts still had access to water 24/7. We need to try this for a season and compare notes! In the wild, european torts will live in significantly drier conditions I suspect, so lets keep records for 2011 and exchange findings in September. I will of course continue weed feeding as normal, and add dried flowers to this freshly picked food. Regards, David nr York. | |
