hi im worried about my horseields shell- not sure its healthy. i have had her or two weeks it seems lumpy to me. | |

Hi there. Tortoises have quite specific needs as to light, heat , diet and supplements. There are many really badly mishapen tortoises about. Some are only very slightly humpy or showing pyramiding. Yours sounds not too serious. Now whilst you cannot undo the past you do control torty's future. If he is active, eating a good diet now, plus passing faeces and white urates he will develop a better shell growth in future. I am delighted that after only 2 weeks of ownership you are already starting him on a better future. Ask more questions if the postings and care sheet leave gaps in your mind. So my best advice is to click on "The Tortoise"...in green box on left, then click caresheets and finally Horsefields. Look back at other people's questions and answers re shells and diet.
