Hi there. Many years ago I kept terrapins, until they were too large for my tank so they were re-homed. I do, however, remember feeling like you do when shell changes occured. I was relieved when the offending white shell plates fell off like dead fingernails to reveal dark, patterned new shell below! So I reckon this is a normal growth effect. Are you giving then calcium supplements? I used to grate cuttlefish onto food and feed them in a tray when they were hungry and they wolfed down whatever I gave them. I hope a current terrapin keeper will pick up your posting and confirm my suspicions...I could be wrong of course. Regards, David nr York | |
