Hi I am looking in to rehoming a tortoise but the only experience i have had was one belonging to an elderly neighbour who pottered round the garden all year (tortoise-not elderly neighbour!!) i just wanted to know if a greenhouse was sufficient housing for them and if i needed any additional heating or lighting etc as greenhouse doesn't have an electrical supply? and advice to a complete beginner would be very much appreciated.

All outdoor setups need electricity supply really, just for those bad days. It's fairly easy to get a supply to most outdoor areas so long as you have waterproof cable. You will need to have access to outside the greenhouse for the tortoise too, to prevent overheating. If you are not going to allow it out, you will also need to provide uvb or supplement the food daily with D3. Hope this helps ;)
