You don't need a ceramic heater as you need to be mimicing the sun, so it needs to be a bright light, a household silvered spot lamp will do the job. You turn all heat off overnight, again like the sun. If I was you I would take the hay out as it serves no purpose for reptiles as they are cold blooded. Make a deeper area of soil for it to bury down into, this is far kmore natural for it.
