My other half adopted what appears to be a Herman 3yrs old on Sunday from someone who clearly had no idea about tortoises. He seemed ok abs was eating abd moving about plenty but took him to the vet just in case who said he seemed fine. However the last 24hrs he has barely moved and not eaten at all. I have bathed him and tried hand feeding to no avail, please help! I'm really worried.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. A change of surroundings can do this. How's your tortoise doing now and what set-up have you got for him/her please?
