I've just joined the website, I'm a single Brazilian who's settled in London around a year ago, and am thinking very seriously to get a tortoise as a pet in the near future. I have been in libraries to look for material on how to prepare a flat to have one - and how to take care of them - but haven't found too much, so would be great if I had recommendations of specific books I could read to prepare myself and my flat.
I intend after that to maybe adopt a rescued tortoise, so I'd also be glad to hear from anyone with previous experience with tortoises.

Hello, I will save you the trouble of further reading. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Don't even think about it. You can NOT keep tortoises without a garden.
