hiya ....my female horsefield has taken to burrying all day and night under a bush she is not eating and occasionaly passes poo when bathed......anyone any ideas she hasbeen doing this for over a week now she hasnt lost any weight....she is over 20years my other torts are not doing this ....so wondered if anyone can help? | |

It's to escape the heatwave - a process known as "aestivation." Quite normal. | |

hiya tom, thanks for reply ....do you have any ideas why the other torts i have do not do this they are horsefields as well.... i have had this one for 20 years and this is a first.....cheers jue | |

sorry meant to say they do have shaded areas and warm spots they also have free range to a very secure garden with weeds aplenty and hutches ........thanks jue | |

hi tom yes i try my best for them but was very confused why one decided to bury herself for such a long time she is still uninteresed in staying up ....im bathing her daily and the weather isnt too hot the others are active and eating well so very unusual i must say.....thanks for your interest jue | |
