Hi All, ive not posted for a while but im still here lol, heres a little ditty for those who are worried about hibernation.... I know the nights are growing long and my sunshines almost gone My body yearns to go to sleep but I have I newbie mum, She doesn’t want to lose me nor let me hide away But she needs to let me have my sleep its natural.... Natures way! I know shes very worried and I know she loves me too , But she needs to let my instincts act in the wild its what id do She keeps my uv light on, weeds piled up in a heap I need to tell her mummy, I really need to sleep Your asking me to stay awake, but I don’t exist for you Please let me have my winter nap in the wild its what id do Begrudgingly I take my meal, tho hunger s long since gone Im hoping that todays the day our interests become one For then shell know I have to sleep, and preparations she will make To allow my winter slumber and to trust me that ill wake But for now I simply sit and bask, my sadness drawing near Ill be overweight and peaky shelled all down to her sleep fear I really love my mummy and I know she loves me too But she needs to let me have my sleep In the wild its what id do
a possible view from any tort whos trying to wind down, twiglet is still active but hopefully she/he will start his wind down pretty soon ready for his sleep sharon xxxxx | |

What a wonderful poem, Sharon! I absolutely love it, and I hope that all the people who are nervous about hibernation (and that is most of us) read it and gain some confidence. | |

I was hoping that twiglet hadnt hibernated before but after he stayed at Karins whilst i was on holiday we discovered he/she is about 3yrs old and he has other ideas about hibernating so its time to do whats best for him and go with his instincts, hes active and eating at present but i know hes slowing down ready to sleep, ive got his fridge ready making sure his temps will be regulated but like i said hes still munching and stomping about like a baby elephant at the moment lol
