Underbite getting bigger Posted: 04/09/2013 by Tarkie |

My 8 year old Horsfield has developed an under bite that seems to be getting more pronounced. Will it present a problem to him? Is it diet related? Can it be rectified. I'm concerned that if it gets worse he will have trouble eating. He eats a lot of dandelions, petunias, some romaine lettuce and other weeds in his summer enclosure. Hoping to hibernate him this winter. Sarah

My 4 year old hermanns has that, I feed her on a slate or off the concrete slabs in my garden, and also had a go with a nail file. She eats well so I am not really worried. If uts too bad tho id get it properly trimmed at a vets.

Wow, I didn't know you could get it trimmed. I'd have no chance filing it, he would just hide his head. We have some slabs and slate in the enclosure which he eats off,and he also eats his cuttlefish from time to time, but it's definitely getting bigger. Think I will take him to the vets. Thanks, Sarah

Also, I'm planning to hibernate him again this winter, so the vets would be a good idea for a once over anyway...
