On the 19th October, something got into my greenhouse, it was either a fox or my young dog. The lamps were on the floor the door was wide open and a clear disturbance had taken place. one of my little tortoises had gone, we looked high and low, searched every inch of the greenhouse and garden every day. Then on the 27th I saw her stuck, wedged between the sleeping box and the side of the greenhouse. There is no way she was there when we looked its a complete mystery. She was very dehydrated, and obviously not eaten or drunk for 9 days. I have bathed her and warmed her up and tried to get her to eat, I bathed her this morning she is wide awake I tempted her with a little tomato but she isnt really eating it. Just before she went missing she was trying to wind down for hibernation, im now concerned that she is in a state of pre hibernation. I don't know what to do with her. ? Any thoughts will be helpful. do I let her hibernate or over winter do I feed her up then wind her down again?

Hello Babs, In the circumstances, it would be best to be cautious & get her feeding again for about 2 months. It will have been traumatic, so a good period of time will get her well & settled. A shortened hibe. in the circumstances, will do no harm. Regards, Tom
