I currently have a 6month old Hermann tortoise who I have had from 9weeks. I am wondering whether it would be too much for him if I got another. I am worried the older one would attack him. Would it be unwise to acquire another from rehoming?

Hello Susy, You need to find one which is about the same age as yours, can you not get one from the same source ? You refer to "he," on what basis do you know it's gender ? Regards, Tom

As you haven't bothered to reply, I'll just add that only two females can be kept together at maturity. Breeders with accurate incubator temp. controls, can determine the sex of Hermanns with some certainty, but can't g'tee it. Hence I asked how you know the sex of the 1 you have. Tom
