As it's happened in the 1st week, I would continue with the hibe.. If it occurs again - then remove & get it feeding again. Start the process again in early Jan.. I've many torts which hibe in the natural way, by submerging themselves in garden soil, though in a controlled environment. Some would urinate in the early stage, but obviously I can't tell if they have. I've never 'lost' one in hibe. in 40+ years. HOWEVER others would say remove it immediately. It's your choice - let us know in April please. Tom

Hi tom By you saying try again in January do you mean feed for the next 2 weeks then the starving 21 days and hibernate again in January? I got her up and the White urate? Had congealed around her vent so I washed it of,it was quite thick and damp,(She has top soil in her hibernate box). She is now up and feeding ok.

No feed to the end of Dec., then start the hibe process again. For the avoidance of doubt, mine submerge in the soil & disappear from view. Do I worry about them urinating ? - no. Tom
