Hi, I am planning to get a Horsefield Tortoise, and I was just wondering about the substrate for the outdoor enclosure. Should it be the same as the indoor enclosure substrate, or normal soil that you get from garden centres (or is already in the ground?) Also what is the coldest temperature they can deal with outdoors? Thank you.

Hello, Where are you getting it from ? This is a critical choice. Tom

Hi, I am hoping to be able to get it from one of the breeders suggested on this website. Also, can horse fields stay outside all the time? Thank you

That's good Grace, that way you will get a healthy tortoise. 99% of Pet Trade torts are wild caught. All of us on the TPG list supply detailed written advice. You can't keep any species of tortoise "outside all the time." Contact the breeders near to you as you will need to collect. Click on "The Tortoise /.." box for a Caresheet. Regards, Tom
