Hi Sherri, Welcome to the list. There are many non hibernating tortoises, in order to own one of these their specific needs like all tortoises need to be met ALL year round and this can prove expensive and may need more long term planning too. Hibernation has came a long way since Blue Peter and the methods are far more exact. Please feel free to read all of our care sheets they are under the heading THE TORTOISE in the menu bar to the left. You can also browse our recommended breeders list under the BREEDERS and VETS heading. By reading these you may feel more drawn to an individual species. I think once you get a tortoise is when the real learning begins and i'm sure you will enjoy this. Good luck Elaine | |
