Please can anyone offer some advice.... I have a marginated tortoise, that I had from a baby and is now 9. Today I heard noises which I thought was my dog whining, but when I looked it was my tortoise on top of a towel on the floor with his mouth open making this noise and humping the towel...what's this all about please..

Hello, In the absence of a female, a towel is better than nothing !! You state "on the floor" - which suggests it happened in the house. Provide it with a [min.] 15sqm enclosure outside, so that it can thrive. Tom

Thank you for replying, he does actually spend as much time outdoors as the weather permits, but once he as had enough he makes his way back indoors, I give him the run of the garden...are you suggesting a proper enclosure outdoors for him...

That's good. You could provide him with his own house for overnight. Tom
