Hello, I'm sorry to bother you with a 'newbie' question, but I've been doing a fair amount of research and can't quite find out whether we could offer a tortoise a suitable home. My fiancé and I would both really love to get a tortoise, and have both admired tortoises for a long time. But at the moment we live in a flat, with no access to a garden of our own. We are about half a minute's walk from lots of green space - park and common - and were wondering whether, if we got a tortoise, we might be able to keep it inside in the best possible conditions and take it outside to be supervised in these areas each day. Is this at all appropriate, or would it be cruel/not fair? If not, that's completely fine - we'll simply park our hope of giving a tortoise a happy home for a few years! And I'm sorry if this is a silly question, or would be very cruel, but I can't quite find the answer anywhere else and thought you may be able to help. Best Wishes Abi

Hello, It would be unkind I'm afraid, they need their own spacious enclosure outside. Regards, Tom
