Outdoor enclosure help please! Posted: 24/05/2017 by Clairaloulou |

Hi all This is my first post so I'm sorry if this kind of thing has already been discussed before. I'm about to buy a young horsfield and need advice on building an outdoor enclosure for him. I am wanting to get something that is: ready made if possible as I don't have anyone to help me, I can't do heavy phys work am no good with diy stuff anyway! not completely permanent as I live in a rented house Not massively expensive Big enough so I don't have to expand it when he's grown. With a lid to protect him Feel completely lost with it all! Thought about a guinea pig run type thing but my grass has had treatments on it, so then thought of putting in a raised flower bed thing then a run on top??? Think I am probably making it much harder than I need to! Please can someone help 😊 A few pointers on what needs to go in the enclosure would be great too please. I'm going to grow a lot of his food from seeds, but please can you tell me if I can buy plants (obvs that are suitable) from eg the garden centre? Want to get a cactus for in his table inside but I'm worried about chemicals etc.

Hello, Don't buy a horsfield's unless it is from a TPG approved breeder, see "Buying a Tortoise/ ........." box on left. An adult needs 15sqm - a 1yr old needs 1sqm, so you can't make or buy an enclosure that suits both. Look at the "Photo Gallery for ideas. Search for organically grown plants online. Tom
