I am a new tortoise owner, I inherited a HORSEFIELD tortoise in February from an elderly relative. His name is Arthur and he is 6 or 7 years of age. The last few weeks he is refusing to eat and is sleeping all the time! Sometimes I can’t get him out of his hut. I believe he is trying to hibernate but I’m worried as he’s never hibernated before and unsure on the whole process! I’m also worried he’s too underweight. I have upped his heat lamp and have his UV light on at least 12 hours to trick him into thinking it’s summer but it seems that it’s not working either. Please can you advise?! Thank you
