Hello (again!), I put Twiggy ouside for the first time, I though she was going to love it, warm sun and freedom but she just freaked out! She pivoted on her back legs and just kept going round in circles very slowly.... Is this normal? I didn't leave her out any longer than about 10-15 mins as I didn't want to stress her out. I'm not sure she's ever has been outside before..... Does anyone have any hints on how to make it less stressful? I wnat her to be outside as much as possible to soak up all the rays. Thanks Row

Hi Row, A big day for Twiggy then. Try to think 'tortoise', if you were out in the open then the chances are that you would be eaten. Start off slow, give a small space, in sunshine (especially for this time of year as she has been use to being under very hot temp), provide plenty of places to hide (mine love their Hebe plants) and feed her, if she is feeding then she will be more relaxed. The smells, change of temps, feelings to her feet and open, brightness of the daylight would have been a lot for her to take in. It will change very quickly. I think your 15 mins is just about correct as it is still very cool at feet level. Good luck for the next trip out! Elaine

Hiya, Huge day out and I think I panicked more! I had her in direct sun and she did feed on a dandelion! Slowly but surely, I though I had an agraphobic Tortoise lol!!! We busy tiyding the garden a planning the outdoor enclosure I just can't wait for them to be outside and this just seemed to put a dampner on it but will keep trying. She's just so different to Tetley he's just off and away without a care in the world! Thanks again I'm sure there will be more silly questions R

Hi Row I don't know if this will help, but when I first put Keya out, I sat with her and talked to her all the time, she seemed more confident when she knew I was there. It didn't take long before she was off on her own and I wasn't needed, until food time that is. I did the same with Molly and it worked with her too.
