Hi Everyone hope your enjoying the good weather!! Can anyone recommend a reputable company that does pet insurances to cover torts? I have looked on the internet and there are a few but I would rather go on recommendation. Thanks Jane

Hi Jane, the only insurance company I have heard other tortoise keepers speak of for torts is 'Exotics Direct'. Might be worth having a look at their site. Vivienne

Hiya Vivienne is right, but a lot of tortoise keepers I know put monthly savings in to an ISA account instead and use that to pay off tortoise vet bills, or holidays if the tortoise remains well. The insurance premiums become expensive when you have more than one tortoise to insure. Helen

Thanks Viv Helen I think the suggestion of putting money away is probaby a good idea, thanks I wasn't thinking down that road but makes sense, as they say 2 heads are better than one Have a good day Jane

Hi Well I got as far as £10.00 savings and then we had to visit the vet which cost £200.00 hmmmm so I have taken the plunge and Insured keya with Exotic direct. Hopefully I will not have to use them in the forseeable future but should I have to call upon the insurance I will let everyone know whether they come up with the goods , so to speak, and whether it is worth having, of course I do understand that for me only having one tort it is not so dear, but as you guys who have quite a few it would be very expensive.
