I have been searching around for something bigger than the table I have at the moment and have found this bookshelf in argos: Incase the above link does not work its a; Pine Small Extra Deep Bookcase.610/9486 Its £19.59. Do you think it would be any good? I thought I could put some kitchen lino tiles on the floor to make the floor waterproof. What do you think? Zoe

In my opinion this would make an ideal tortoise table Zoe, but of course it depends how big your tortoise is (sorry I don't remember). If you buy it I would consider lining it with pond liner or something similar; as pine isn't too absobent. Helen

They are horsefields and they are just over 9cm long at the moment. There is just the two of them at the moment. Would like to get another at some point so do you think this would be ok for 3. I'm on the re-homing list so this might not happen anytime soon so for now its just the two. Zoe

I'm no good at numbers but if you tell me what size it is in inches I can give you a better idea. Don't be in a hurry then to get rid of your old table if you are wanting to rehome a tortoise as you would obviously need to keep it if you are fortunate enough to get a rehomer. The new tortoise would need to be kept separate from your own tortoises for at least 6 months. Get back to me with the measurement in inches please. I did notice there was a larger bookcase - but didn't check measurements or size but that might be more appropriate for three when the new tortoise can happily live with your own two. Helen

Option 1 - 30.7inches x 7.8 inches x 70.8 inches = £32.29 Option 2 - 30.7inches x 11.4inches x 36 inches = £19.59 My problem at the moment is space. We live in a small house but I am just finishing my PGCE to become a primary teacher and come september I may have to move (hopefully to somewhere bigger) or will be in a position to start saving to buy a house. So I was looking at Option 2 lasting 2 years (ish). Have done some measuring and just dont have the room for option 1. So I guess the option is forget both and look elsewhere, or if option 2 is ok for them for now, get that. I was going to keep the old table in the loft for the just in case. I really appreciate all the help, these little tortoises really get under your skin and I just want them to have the best that I can a) afford and b) accomodate. Zoe

If option 2 is larger than your current set up then go for that. If space is an issue for you right now then just stick with 2 tortoises and then when you move to somewhere with more room, look to rehome another one. By this time you may know what sex the 2 tortoises are that you have and then you can rehome one of the appropriate sex. Just a thought Helen
