Thermostat-timer gadget question Posted: 10/06/2009 by Ozric |

Hi all. Is there one gadget which will act as a timer and thermostat that would control two appliances with different temperatues for night and day? I want to have a ceramic heat emitter at night that only comes on if the temp goes low, and I want to use a normal lightbulb as a basking lamp which will only come on when its cool during the day. This is for outside use, but in a shelter. I could just use two timers and two thermostats to control the two devices separately but it does seem a bit daft. Also, the thermostat for dayitme has to be suitable for working an incandescent bulb - which a lot of them are not. Sounds like a tall order, but surley other people must be needing something like this as well?

The Lucky Reptile Thermocontrol Pro II is excellent. I run a megaray in the day just on the timer and a ceramic or tubular heater at night using the thermostat. It has two plug sockets, one a simple on/off timer activatd from the devices internal clock and one for whatever heater you want the thermostat to control which also has day and night temperature settings. Set the day temperature low so that it doesn't come on during the day unless the temperature really drops.
