Hi Brian,

Have you any photos you could share please, particularly of the tail area?
Did she flash whilst she was gravid (was there much time between the flash and laying the eggs?)

All the Best
Darren

Hi Darren sorry no photos never saw any flashing of any kind . wondered if it was possible eggs are fertile. still have mary"s eggs in incubator dont suppose they will hatch now. it was just a shock after vet telling us it was a male. it was a small purpley red 10 mm long appendage coming to a point.regards Brian

Hi Brian,

It sounds as though it could be one of two things.

A prolapse - which from your description - it doesn't sound like it's that at all.

Or it is indeed a penis - in which case your tortoise is a hermaphrodite (we've had this on the forum not too long ago). Having said that it's pretty unusual for a hermaphrodite of any species to actually produce eggs/offspring.

Photos would be extremely interesting

Best Regards
Darren

Brian,

An x-ray would be even more interesting from a scientific point of view.

Cheers

Have you just the two females Brian?

It wouldn't hurt to incubate them.

They went in incubator as soon as she was
bathed after her covering eggs Darren. Will leave them there see what happens. Yes just 2 females . bought them 3 years ago when they where 2 years old being told they where male and female but that does'nt matter now
Thanks for your help and fast response ,Brian
