Hi there, after finding out that my tortoises are housed incorrectly I have discovered the diet I have been feeding them is wrong, wrong, wrong, what pot plants can I buy to put in their home (for sake of speed) whilst I try and sort out seeds to grow for them. Kerry

Hi Kerry, Its probably abit late to grow plants for them now i would wait until next spring then you can plant it up with weeds like dandelion seeds, clover and sow thistle. I plant nasturtiums, pansys, ice plants and many more in my horsfield enclosure but they never last, i think the record so far is two days as they trash everything. For now i suggest you just go weed picking there are still lots out there :-) Ali

Hi Kerry If you do buy some plants from a garden centre, they have to be weathered for a few weeks before feeding them to your torts.Because of the chemicals most places use to grow the plants. you can do this by leaving them outside and watering often for 3-4 wks if they have any flowers on them when i buy them i remove these flowers and wait for new ones to come. Winter pansy and indoor campanula, the little star variety are in the garden centres and B&Q, water and weather for a couple of weeks, you can also wash away the compost and repot into fresh top soil. Start your weed seeds off on a sunny window ledge and they should soon sprout. You can also supplement any weeds you find with some Romaine lettuce, lambs Lettuce and Florette crispy salad. (but not all at once :-) ) Laraine
