hello, my name is lindsay i am 20 years old. I have only just joined this forum about an hour ago, i have a 2 year old herman tortoise called charlie, i have only had him for one week. It would be most appriciated if anybody could give me help and advice about him as i am a new parent so to speak. My mother in law has two heman tortoises called vernon and neville and they are both 4 years old, she helps me as much as she can on what little she knows so hopefully i can find mysel some new friends on here who can help me with charlie. i am looking forward to hearing from you all xxx | |

Thanks ali, thats nice to know. is there any different greens or food i can give him than cabbage kale and spinach? So he doesnt get bored of it x | |

Hi Lindsay Welcome to TPG. Weeds/flowers are a great food for tortoises thats all my tortoises get to eat.and the best bit is weeds are free.....Dandys,plantain,vetch,dead nettle sow thistles,chickweed are to name a few. plants.....Pansy, petunias,most sedums but not sedum acre, forget-me-nots Deb | |

Hi deb, im just wondering where can u get dandys from, as i thought if u pick most of them they will have pesticide chemicals on them. xxxx | |

Hi, Its best to avoid grass verges especially when they are near residential areas as the council will sometimes spray these areas. I pick mine out in the country along bridle paths/fields etc. Always give them a good wash before feeding them. Ali | |
