Hi Karen, Yes you will have to keep the three new torts in quarantine away from your other two for at least 6 months, if all goes well you could probably introduce them together next spring. They will need there own table top enclosure, heating and lighting. The quarantine period allows you to monitor the new torts for any illnesses they may have, it may also be a good idea to have a poo sample checked at the vets for any worms. Whilst they are in quarantine you should also adhere to strict hygene practice by washing your hands after touching the two lots, or using bacterial handwash gel so as not to pass any germs on. If you dont know the history of the new torts then its best not to hibernate them this year. Please read our care sheet on horsfields they are under 'The Tortoise' on the left menu. Any problems please ask away! Regards Vivienne | |
