heres another as promised lol x TWIGLET In my heart I knew I wanted you the moment our eyes met, You were such a little stumpy thing, a little rocky pet I didn’t know what imports were, or how you came to be I only knew how small you were with eyes that said ‘help me, A woodchip floor, no water dish, the pet shop thought was fine But in my heart I felt your pain, from then on you were mine, I wish id bought your little friends, it was hard to leave them there With a man who yearned for profit ,and a man who didn’t care A man who trades in stolen lives, a trade that needs to stop A man who deals in misery, the man who owns the shop! At least your pain is over, your free now you’re with me I cant offer you the wilderness, but its as close as it can be You’ll feel the sun upon your face, its warmth upon your shell Your lungs will fill with fresh air now, no more that living hell For in my heart I needed you, the moment our eyes met, To share my life, grow old with me, my baby rock…twiglet

Oh Sharon, I had tears in my eyes by the end of your poem. It really captures what many of us have experienced, and also the conditions in so many pet shops. Twiglet should be really proud of his poet Mummy.

It certainly isn't corny Sharon, it's so moving and like Nina I had tears in my eyes. Thank you so much this it really tells us how it is for our little shelled friends and how we just need to help them. Helen
