We've now added a new facility to the forum.  If you wish to mail someone privately so that your message doesn't appear on the forum it is now possible to do so.

You can now access the emailing facility from the forum by clicking any member's name.

Do this by either in the post lists click on a name in the "started by" column or when reading a message just click on the members name in the post title so for example where it says Posted: 24/08/2008 by tortoise7, clicking on tortoise7 will open up the form to send an email to that person.

 awwwww, im sure im doing something wrong here with these emails, ok, when i go on TT or torrtsmad i can press mail tab on the top left hand of screen and i get a run down of all messages sent, even when members have pm me in the past i have always found them in this message in box but im not getting any from here, i dont get a daily digest or individual email from this site either, how do i double check my settings because chances are that ive set it up wrong  ,

Well, Helen is away, and I'm pretty technophobic, but you should be receiving the pms from this site in your ordinary email box -- nothing to do with the forum. Like if I were to just send you an email from my ordinary hotmail account it would arrive in your ordinary email account -- and that's where the pms that Darren and I sent you should be arriving. It won't have anything to do with this forum. You could check your email account to see if our pms went into your spam/junk folder, as sometimes new emails from unknown senders do that. Other than that advice, I'm afraid I'm as much in the dark as you are!!

I know, why don't you try and pm me, and I'll see if I get it. If you click on the underlined tpgnina at the top of this messaage (where it says 'posted by') a screen will come up for you to pm me. I need to go out now, but if you send me a message and it arrives, I'll let you know as soon as I get in.

 ok now im stumped, ive just gone onto my yahoo account to see if i can find a problem there, i went onto my groups and found TPG:tortoise aid, clicked on it but its not you guys, its a different homepage to this tpg,i must have added you to my groups at some point but ive lost you lol.....

We have two forums: this one, on the TPG website, and also a Yahoo forum (and even though the Yahoo one isn't called Tortoise Aid, when I added it to my favourites, it came out as Tortoise Aid - so I think that is the other one you found). If you open it up, I think you'll find it is another TPG forum. But my pm to you from here won't go into any group folder -- it should just go into the area where you receive ordinary emails from friends, etc. I'm completely confused now! LOL!

And guess what? I got the email that you pm'd to me! It came into my ordinary email box, and I have sent you a reply. So something is working (if not everything).

OK -- I forgot to add that the email you pm'd me came into my email box and said it was from: noreply@tortoise-protection-group.org.uk
It went into my spam/junk mail box, but that's OK, as I check that all the time. The reason it says it's from 'noreply etc. is in case you don't want your real email addy revealed to the person you've pm'd. There is a link in the email so that I can reply directly to you though (you don't just click on 'reply' to reply). Do check your spam/junk mail box to see if you have been sent anything from the noreply address.

uuuuurghhhh!!!!, ive checked my spam and the only message i got from noreply is when wendy thanked me for the donation, im ready to wing this pc through the window now, i know the problem is at my end but i cant find the ruddy thing! i dont know whether i should try and edit the membership and start from scratch but again i dont know how :(

LOL -- well you have got one email from noreply in the past, so that is evidence that Wendy was able to send you a pm. I'm at a loss for other ideas. Helen won't be back until the 11th, but I think Viv will be around at some point soon, and she might be able to help. Sorry!
