Hello I wonder if anyone is able to help me. I have a 2 year old hermanne tortoise that I bought from a pet shop and was determined to get a tortoise table as I had been reading all about them prior to purchasing my lovely tortoise bubbles. Unfortunately I was persuaded to buy a 3ft vivarium, plus canopy, basking lamp etc, which I now throughly regret. I have during the school holidays this week constructed a tortoise table using mdf and made a bedding area to hide in and a area where I am going to place the basking lamp, but don't know what to seal or paint the table with to finish it off. DO I PAINT IT, IS IT SAFE! I just don,t know. I really just want it water tight I suppose and safe for bubbles my tortoise and suitable so it can be cleaned ok. I am at a standstill can't seem to get any further. Can anyone help because I don't know where to go from here. Also if there is anything else I need to do please advise because I have only kept my tortoise in the vivarium and not ever in a tortoise table. Bubbles | |

Hi, There are plenty of animal friendly products on the market, i use a unibond sealent of wood glue and water (50/50) it works well and i have never had a problem. You are doing the right thing by putting your tort in a table top rather than a vivarium, put a few plants, rocks and hideys to make it more interesting, you will find your tortoise is much happier and healthier.
