Basil has very dry skin, on top of his head one of the scales is peeling off, i didnt pull it off in case it made it sore, but what can i do to make it more oily, i have stopped bathing him , he is 3yr old hermann, i couldnt hibernate him due to fridge problems.

Hi Karen,

It is completely normal for your tortoise to be shedding his skin. unlike snakes they dont shed it in one go. Just leave the top of his head it will come off in time, dont give up the baths.
