Hiya, Unfortunately, tortoises from the pet trade have a much higher rate of problems than from a genuine UK breeder due to where they are sources and the because they are kept with so many other tortoises - only one needs to be ill and if spreads:-( There are a couple of good vet lists:- http://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/site/files/VetlistApril20009.pdf http://www.britishcheloniagroup.org.uk/vetscorner/vetlist.htm
Is you tortoises in a vivarium, Horsfield tortoises aren't good in a vivarium due to an almost one-temperature environment and also the high humidity will cause respiratory problems. Here are some care sheets that will hopefully help:- http://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/site/87.asp
Ideas for set-ups:- http://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/site/58.asp Hope you can find a vet close to you. Whilst they are at the vets, it would be worth getting the vet to check stool samples for parasites as they are quite common in tortoises from the pet trade. Please feel free to ask any questions HTH | |
