Hi,

Sometimes swollen eyes can mean a lack in vitamin A, i had this with one of my babies a few years back and the vet gave it a jab which cured the problem over night, are you using nutrabol on the food?

thanks for your reply we were concerned about using the tiacil eye drops as the box said for dogs cats and rabbits .we have since read about tortoises who have had the same problem and they had the same drops and said they were very good .We were worried about making Sandys eye worse (our tortoise is called sandy). He is also having an antibiotic his eye is starting to look better. He eats alot of dandelions do you think he should have nutrabol on the dandelions thanks for any reply

Hi,

Tiacil is ok for tortoises even though it says for dog & cat use. Make sure the enclosure doesnt get too dusty as this can also add to eye irritations, spray it regularly to ensure this doesnt happen. Nutrabol should be used 2 or 3 times weekly on the food but just a sprinkling (not too much)

Good luck and keep us updated on how your tortoise is.
