CAN SOMEONE HELP ME
Posted: 15/07/2011 by Babygirl

Hello all,

I was wondering if someone could help me. I have two horsefield tortoises, nearly 2 years old. One male & One Female. My male seems to be a lot bigger then my Female.

My male is 145g and 9.2m long.

My female is 105g and 8.2m long

Now i know this is not normal. my female has had a lung infection but i get her checked every couple of month & my vet says she looks healthy..but i cant stop worrying that they maybe something wrong with her.

if anyone can help can you email me on Natashaholmes5@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks

Natasha

Hi Natasha
Is your vet a tortoise specialist? if he is then I think if she doesn't give you any signs to worry about then try and relax. It is always good to keep a good check on them which sounds like you are doing. Was the vet happy with their growth and was these his/hers growth calculations.? I have hermanns so I do a different growth chart but for Horsfields it is the Macintosh ratio, have you had a look at that one?
Can I just ask where you brought her from, and did she have the lung infection when you got her, it just sounds a typical result of life in a glass tank (Viv)
Try not to worry, it sounds like you have everything under control
