Larder fridge:   

Tall food storage refrigerator, without freezer compartment, increasingly used for hibernating tortoises.

Lateral:   

Pertaining to the side.

Leopard tortoise:   

Geochelone Pardalis.  See Geochelone pardalis pardalis, Geochelone pardalis babcocki.

Lighting:   

Light of a particular quality or type, or the equipment that produces it.  Tortoises require adequate amounts of full spectrum light, and especially UVB light, in order to maintain good health and growth.  See also full spectrum lighting, UVB light.

Limestone flour:   

Ground up calcium carbonate, formed from the mineral calcite.

Lobatse hingeback:   

Hingeback tortoise; Kinixys Lobatsiana.
